This progressive 6 week class is designed for students who have some experience but need a stronger foundation in the fundamental poses. More challenging poses will be introduced and modified for those with limitations. Emphasis will be placed on proper alignment, breathing and mindful movement. Modifications will be provided for any limitations or injuries you have thus allowing you to practice effectively and safely.
INSTRUCTOR, DEBORAH MILLER
BIOGRAPHY AND PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA
Deborah has been a dedicated passionate student of yoga since 2001. At this time she met her first teacher, Laura Jane Murphy, who opened her heart and mind to the teachings of yoga. In 2003 she completed her first teacher training with Daren Friesen at Moksha Yoga of Chicago. At the culmination of this training Deb realized that she had only just begun to understand the complexities of yoga. After experiencing many different teachers, she found her present teacher, Yogarupa Rod Stryker. Yogarupa is a student of Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D, a teacher in the lineage of Sri Swami Rama of the Himalayas. In 2009 she completed the coursework for this advanced training. To this day she studies and practices in the Parayoga tradition. Deb’s dharma is to share the wisdom of yoga. Classes incorporate the use of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), mantra, bandha (locks), visualization, and kriya ending in meditation.
One learns to quiet the mind to hear the wisdom from the soul. Once we are in touch with that wisdom, we can make decisions with clarity and our lives become more joyful. The ultimate goal of yoga is to live life with joy and fearlessness.
